In 1989 Brent Autos was born.
It was in 1989 when a young Mike Diggins grasped an opportunity and turned a somewhat small building (aka shed) in the backyard of a residential property into his first workshop, which over the next 28 years he was to single-handedly manage and grow into the respectable garage business it is today.
In 2012 husband and wife joined forces.
While Mike continues to manage the garage on a day-to-day basis and remains the first point of contact for customers, he can now fully concentrate on the mechanic engineering side of the business – whether that’s diagnosing faults, servicing cars or having technical conversations with the customers, parts suppliers or fellow mechanics.
Wife Birgit, who took a sabbatical from her 15 year corporate career in favor of the greasy garage (or rather to test the waters of the entrepreneurial career path), is holding the fort in the background, taking care of all things marketing, administration, accounting and anything that comes up in the office that needs doing. To avoid grease overload, she also started up her own business Power-Words.
In 2014 we welcomed KATY to our family.
With slightly more time at his hand and given his particularly distinct engineering mind and huge passion for classic cars, it was only a matter of time before Mike found himself a little side project. KATY is a 1966 Volvo P1800 (Reg KYT 764D) and Mike has been enjoying himself documenting her restoration on our mechaniclondon YouTube diary.
In 2017 Brent Autos (est.1989) became Classic BRENT AUTOS.
As part of our re-branding we decided to pay tribute to our dog Harvey, who used to accompany Mike to the garage for many years. As for the actual name change, there may be more to it than one might suspect. Find out more …
In 2019 KATY was reborn.
After 5 years of meticulously and patiently researching, restoring, replacing and rebuilding, and tantrums and challenges as well as jumps of joy, we were proud to announce that our Volvo P1800 is back to its original glory and we had taken KATY for her first spin to Regents Park on the 14th September.
