With that spring feeling in the air, it will soon be time for classic car owners to take their classic pride and joy out of hibernation.
Unfortunately, many will find that condensation, cold temperatures or also old age and not driving their beloved classic car for a few months, have taken their toll over the winter (despite tucking it away in safe storage) and that at least some essential safety checks by a skilled professional are needed to get it back on the road. However, oftentimes electrics effected by condensation, decay to fittings and rust will also need treating and can often lead to lengthy processes and repairs including welding, replacing parts, and sometimes rebuilding engines.
For many it can mean disappointment, or also denial as the thought of an overall restoration raises concerns about time and costs.
Surely, staying safe and roadworthy has to come first though, and we are here to tell you that you don’t have to compromise your, or indeed other people’s, safety. We can help you spread the cost with our proven and renowned rolling restorations service.
What is a rolling classic car restoration?
In short, it’s a step-by-step process to repair damages and faults that would otherwise compromise the safe driving, or also risk further knock-on damage if left untreated.
To start with, our chief Mike will do an all-round safety inspection, including visual checks, physical tests as well as troubleshooting and diagnosing technical faults.
This will form the basis of a costed estimate, which will detail
- Essential repairs – necessary to keep the classic car safe and roadworthy
- Nice-to-have repairs – non-essential or only cosmetic in nature
- Recommended repairs and advisories (e.g. sometimes there may be no imminent risk, meaning a repair may not be essential, however in order to prevent further damage or knock-on effects on other parts and areas, it may be advisable to fix something sooner than later)
- Costs – these will be detailed for both, parts and labour.
Our rolling restorations are a great way to enjoy driving your classic pride and joy (instead of having it stuck in a mechanic workshop for long periods of time) and to spread the costs whilst having full trust that the car is safe and roadworthy.
However, don’t just take out word for it and see what one of our rolling restoration customers had to say:
“Mike has been brilliant in informing me of costs and what can be done now and later and he’s an absolute pleasure to work with. Mike is special and different to other mechanics where his true love and understanding of classic cars has guided what should be done to restore the car’s original intent and visual features”
